What makes the Tak Epsilon 180 Astrograph special? It's in the newly designed extra-low dispersion two element corrector housed in a rotating focuser assembly. No one knows optics like Takahashi and the ED design provides incomparable contrast and sharpness - combined with extreme accuracy. Not only is it a suitable visual instrument, but it's one capable of producing 10 micron stellar images across the entire super-flat field. The speed means your exposure times become a fraction of what they would once require to capture the image and that means even less chance of tracking errors or random chance affecting your astrophotography.

Super solid, heavy duty construction means transportable gear that won't lose its collimation. Its mechanical design quality, perfectly matched with its optics, give you set-up flexibility that's hard to match in other astrophotography oriented telescopes. The low profile Crayford focuser has a rotary connector system for framing. It allows you the option of use when it comes to the ED corrector assembly and it can be removed if desired. A microfocuser (MEF-1) is available as an optional accessory. In place, the Crayford and corrector will yield a 44mm (1.7") flat field image circle, large enough to cover a 35mm sized CCD chip. The effective focal length of the Takahashi Epsilon 180ED Astrograph is 19.7" (500mm) and its metal back distance measures 2.2" (56mm). The perfect correction of field, covering the entire image circle, is shown in the spot-diagram . The diffraction pattern almost does not present a residue of coma in periphery. In the same way, the 4-lenses corrector practically does not generate any chromatism.

The Takahashi Epsilon-180ED Hyperbolic Flat-Field Astrograph telescope design isn't as strenuous on the user. Because it's not a high-resolution reflector, it is far less sensitive to collimation issues. Unlike the Cassegrain-style, it isn't necessary to perform a star collimation at every set-up. The primary mirror cell is supplied with three dual-action collimation screws that either push or pull. To keep flexure of the primary mirror under control during temperature change, there are also three screws with counter-nut adjustments to regulate the pressure on the primary mirror. What's more, you'll find there are reference marks on both mirror assemblies to ensure perfect alignment of the optical axis. Thanks to Takahashi, this simple system and its collimation eyepiece created for the Epsilon-180ED, means that critical adjustments are quick, slick and easy.

Takahashi's high-speed Epsilon-180 ED is a super-fast astrograph telescope with a wide flat field that can be used with sensors as large as 24x36 (35mm) 6x6, and even 6x9!

Stellar images of less 20µ can be recorded, which highlights the extreme accuracy of this telescope.

Hyperbolic Newtonian Design

The Epsilon-180ED (D=180mm, F/2.8) is a catadioptric reflector with a hyperbolic primary that works together with a doublet field corrector (integrated into a Rack & Pinion focuser) to provide a large perfectly flat field.

The optical tube assembly delivers an image with remarkably high contrast, even with stars located at the edge of the field.

Photographic qualities aside, the Epsilon-180ED is also an excellent choice for wide field observation. The views of stellar fields, star clusters and galaxies are spectacular.

The near-perfect field correction across the entire image circle is attested by the spot-diagram.

Coma is extremely well controlled, even in the periphery, and the doublet corrector is virtually free of chromatic aberration.

Mechanics

The Epsilon-180ED is mnufactured to a very high standard to compliment it's optics. The rack-and-pinion focuser has a rotary system for framing and an optional microfocuser 'MEF-1' is available.

The package version includes Tube Holder, 7x50 Finderscope and Bracket.

Collimation

The procedure for collimation is less rigorous than on a Cassegrain-like optical design so collimation on a star will not be necessary. Takahashi has designed a simple collimation eyepiece designed with the Epsilon-180ED in mind. The optical axis is represented by reference marks on the 2 mirrors and the primary mirror cell is equipped with three 'double-action' collimation screws (push/pull). Moreover, the three three screws have counter-nuts that adjust the pressure under the primary mirror to minimise stresses arising from temperature change. You will be able to collimate your Epsilon-180ED during daytime, which is convenient.

1.7 What does it mean when tracking shows "Label Created" but the order hasn't shipped yet?
When we provide a tracking number, your package has already left our warehouse.
However, the tracking status may show "Label Created" or "Awaiting Package" because the package is still en route to the courier's sorting facility.
Due to China's vast geography, transit between cities can span over 1,000 km, so it takes time.
It may also be undergoing export customs clearance. Your package should be delivered soon.

1.8 What if my package needs special delivery instructions or other requests?
If your shipment requires an invoice to be attached, special packaging, delayed dispatch, or other requests, please contact us.

1.9 About receiving the package
Whether you sign for the package personally or through a representative, it is considered as acceptance of the package, the quantity, and the included items.

1.10 I don’t live in China. Can I have my order shipped to a Chinese address?
Yes, you can. Just place your order and provide a Chinese recipient address.
For orders shipped within China, we do not charge any shipping fees. If your item shows a shipping fee, please contact us to have the fee waived.

In the above cases, we accept returns within 30 days of receiving the item, provided that the product is in brand new and unused condition.

• Buyers must apply for a return and send the product back to us within 30 days of receipt.

• We will deduct 4% for credit card or PayPal transaction fees.
• If you choose to receive a store credit instead of a refund, we will waive this 4% fee.

Please contact us for the correct return shipping address. (The return address may not be located in Mainland China.)
Please ensure the item is properly packaged and that the original product packaging is not damaged.

Important: Do NOT return the product to the sender’s address shown on the parcel. You must contact us first to obtain the correct return address. Unauthorized returns may be lost or undeliverable—any such loss will be fully borne by the buyer.

30 days is considered a very reasonable and standard return period for online purchases.
